ASSISTANT DIR OF BO & E - AVAILABILITY: A.S.A.P. EDUCATION: College Degree Preferred, QUALIFICATIONS: 5 to 10 years experience in Broadcast Engineering Management, EXPERIENCE: Strong management, organization and communication skills. Knowledge in analog and digital electronics, RF transmission systems, satellite and microwave communication systems and strong computer skills. (PC and Mac) Experience in the installation, operation, and maintenance of a wide variety of broadcast production equipment. Strong interest and experience in live on-air productions and in providing superior technical service to the station’s on-air product and revenue producing units. DUTIES: This individual will assist the Director of BO&E in the management and oversight of all aspects of the technical plant, operations, on-air production, IT strategy, building services, budgeting and FCC/SOX Compliance. Report to and work close with the Director of BO&E to foster the technical, operational and strategic goals of the station. This individual will also communicate directly with the General Manager, Department heads and key members of the stations’ production team to develop processes and procedures to improve the technical quality of our on-air products. This individual will frequently monitor the stations’ on-air news broadcasts and work directly with News and other station Managers to insure consistent quality of production. Provide assistance and support in the planning and implementation of on-air productions, remotes, and special events coverage. Must be available 24/7 if needed to provide support to deal with technical and/or breaking news related issues. PHOTOGRAPHER - WNEP-TV in Scranton, Pennsylvania has an immediate opening for a News Photographer/Video Editor. The person selected for this position will shoot and edit videotape under extreme deadline pressure. PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB: Insures sound and picture quality of all stories. Works alone or with a reporter or field producer to shoot and edit the story for air. Edits videotape and coordinates for in-house playback during newscasts. Operates, as need dictates, ENG microwave van. Maintains inventory of all assigned equipment, including vehicle, and responsible for its up-keep. Knowledge of satellite truck operations is a plus. SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: ability to shoot videotape in all kinds of settings and edit tape under extreme deadline pressure. Ability to operate ENG microwave van, drive vehicle, operate VTR’s, and set up tripods, etc. Knowledge of how cameras work to perform minor repairs and maintenance (unlocking jammed tapes, etc.) in field, if necessary. Physical Requirements: Dexterity to operate camera, VTR, etc. Vision to shoot and edit videotape. Ability to lift 100 pounds or more, as needed, of equipment consisting of camera, VTR’s, tapes, tripods, batteries, etc. Ability to get into nooks, crannies and high places to shoot video. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Seeking a highly motivated and creative Promotions Producer to write and produce high quality news and programming promos for three stations; must have good working knowledge of strong non-linear editing; must be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. The successful candidate must be able to multi-task, demonstrate strong creative writing skills and be able to work well in a creative team environment. One to two years prior television experience in promotion with an emphasis on news is preferred. VIDEOTAPE EDITOR - WHTM-TV Harrisburg has an immediate opening for a videotape editor. The editor bears primary responsibility for reviewing and editing videotape for assigned newscasts. The individual must have a fundamental knowledge of linear based tape to tape editing. The ability to work closely in a team environment delivering video under deadline is a must. Additional duties as assigned may include taking live feeds, organizing tapes, dubbing to archives and prompter support. A bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field is preferred.
