Bob Sauber is President and General Manager of WTIV-AM in Titusville and
WFRA-AM/FM in Franklin.  His commitment to the broadcast industry and his civic activities have enriched Western Pennsylvania communities for more than forty years.

Sauber began his broadcasting career as a radio engineer in 1945 in Youngstown, Ohio, at WFMJ-AM, where he worked with Myron Jones, another young engineer.  Ten years later, he moved to Pennsylvania and built WTIV.  In 1958, he built WFRA-AM/FM, and in 1997, he built WAQM-FM in Meadville. He built all four stations from construction permits.  He shares management duties with his son, Thomas.

Sauber's reputation as an outstanding engineer and committed broadcaster led to his appointment by the Federal Communications Commission as State Emergency Communications Committee chairman for Pennsylvania.   The committee is responsible for the development and organization of Pennsylvania's Emergency Alert System which utilizes radio, television, and cable to transmit news concerning emergency situations.  He has served in this capacity since the mid-1980s.

Sauber is a licensed radio amateur and participates in several amateur organizations, including ROAR, Rotarians of Amateur Radio, an international fellowship organization.  He is a member of the Western Area Pennsylvania Emergency Management RACES (Radio Amateur Communication Emergency System), a network of amateur operators in 22 western counties who share information in cases of emergencies.

Sauber served as joint board chairman of the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters in 1977.  He was named Radio Broadcaster of the Year by PAB in 1991.  He has been a member of the National Association of Broadcasters for 45 years.

Sauber has been a community leader for more than forty years. He is a member of the Executive Board, Frenchcreek Council, Boy Scouts of America, and recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.  He is a director of the Titusville United Way and served as chairman and director of the American Heart Association, State of Pennsylvania, in 1985-1986.

Sauber received the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce Citizenship Award in 1972.  He was president of the Chamber in 1988.  He served as chairman of the Titusville Redevelopment Authority for 24 years, overseeing the redevelopment of one quarter of the downtown area.  He was chairman of the Titusville Area Planning Commission.

Sauber has served as director of the Titusville Area School Board, director of the Benson Memorial Library, director of the Penn Bank, president of the Titusville Hospital, and president of the Titusville Rotary Club.
