Al Dame

Al Dame began his career in broadcasting in 1946 as an announcer for WACB, Kittanning, Pennsylvania. He earned his degree from Penn State, School of Theatre and Speech, in 1955.
Al soon moved into sales and station management with the Laurel Radio Group, licensee of six mid-Pennsylvania radio stations. In 1967 he became manager of WEEP AM/FM, Pittsburgh, the first country formatted station in Pittsburgh.
In 1968, Dame formed a partnership with Michael Rea of Pittsburgh to own and operate WRSC/WQWK in State College. WKBO and WRHY were soon added but shortly thereafter, Dame purchased WKBO and WRHY as sole owner and formed Dame Media.
In 1987 Dame Media's 21 radio stations were sold to Clear Channel Communications. Shortly thereafter Dame founded a new ownership group, Dame Broadcasting, and set out to acquire stations throughout the northeastern United States. To date, it is the licensee of 14 properties in three markets.
Al Dame is responsible for training many of today's broadcast managers and department heads. His community work has gained Al much recognition. He is the recipient of numerous charitable and educational awards. Several of his children are active in the broadcasting and entertainment industries.
