PA Home Improvement Law
Courtesy of PAB:
The recently enacted Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act (HICPA), requires certain contractors and builders performing specific tasks to register with the Bureau of Consumer Protection of the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. Adam Silverstein of Fox Rothschild LLP, Philadelphia, provides an excellent overview of the legislation.
Another site for information is www.pabuilders.org (PA Builders Association) under “click to register.” This contains video and other pertinent information.
Any advertisement for a contractor covered under the law must contain its “Home Improvement Contractor Registration Number.”
To comply, stations may use the above quoted designation along with the contractor’s number or it may simply display or state the contractor’s number as “PA123456.”
The law takes effect on July 1, 2009. |
